Helping the Federal Sector Achieve Energy Goals
In 2014, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) awarded our energy team an $11 million contract under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Savings Performance Contract. The project encompasses a comprehensive set of sustainability upgrades at OPM’s Theodore Roosevelt Building (TRB), a 10-story office building in Washington DC, and OPM’s Federal Executive Institute (FEI), a multi-facility executive training campus in Charlottesville, VA. Together with an ongoing building upgrade project, our team will reduce annual energy consumption by 29% and annual water consumption by 48% at these two facilities.
Given OPM’s commitment to sustainability, both facilities had previously undergone energy and water retrofits that implemented basic Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) such as lighting upgrades and domestic water fixture upgrades. Our team successfully identified numerous ECMs – including domestic and irrigation water upgrades, chiller replacements, cooling tower controls upgrades, daylighting controls, and AHU controls upgrades – that will further reduce OPM’s energy and water consumption and utility expenditures.
